One of our PSP colleagues, Munene Mwaniki, spent a few months in Washington DC. Here is what he had to say about the experience:

Washington DC, the seat of the United States Federal Government is a thriving multicultural metropolis with many places of historical and cultural significance for the discerning visitor be they the White House, The Lincoln Memorial, The Washington Memorial, The Reflecting Pool (famous for the "I Have A Dream" Speech by Martin Luther King Jr), The Second World War Memorial, The US Capital and the Supreme Court, The Vietnam Memorial, The Smithsonian Castle, the various national museums of art (with the National Museum of African Art being my favourite), The Washington National Cathedral (the venue of the Memorial Service for Neil Amstrong a few months ago)... and of course; the various diplomatic missions clustered around Embassy Row along Massachusetts Avenue NW (with the Embassy of the Republic of South Africa on 3051 Massachusetts Avenue NW, currently undergoing renovations). The late autumn kaleidoscope of colour only adds an enchanting perspective to this beautiful city that in many ways is a capsule of what defines these United States.
